A1081copy2Michael was born in Seattle. He spent his early years in the Pacific Northwest and his high school years in Norway. Both locations influencing his eye with a nod to Scandinavian design.

His early creative interests included drawing, model building and photography. After moving to New York City, he spent a number of years working in the cosmetic industry as Creative Director for a variety of brands including Lancôme, Viktor and Rolf, Giorgio Armani, YSL, and Ralph Lauren.

Taking his design background into the world of photography he is interested in the graphic nature of the world. Michael’s interest is in making images of human creations (architecture / signage and interiors) and of the human history and culture they express.

Michael’s process is a conscious journey of discovery. He sets out with an idea in mind knowing that the original idea may be eclipsed by a discovery which will reveal itself and capture his attention.

As a photographer, he wants his presence to be unobtrusive offering his viewer a glimpse of the undisturbed layers of history.

In 2019 Michael's one person show in New York City entitled AUTOMOBILE MIGRANT, garnered great success. His work has been exhibited in numerous national galleries such as Center For Creative Art, Shockboxx Gallery, Praxis Gallery, Gallery 110, Axis Gallery, La Artcore, Blackbox Gallery and Yellowstone Art Museum. His photographs have been selected as Editors' Pick multiple times by LensCulture.
